Practice Areas

Sports Law

Legal commitment to negotiate, represent, and resolve disputes in sport.

This is a practice area structured within Archer & Associados, covering the provision of legal services in a branch of law that is now autonomous, yet operates in an interdisciplinary manner, both nationally and internationally, with other areas of law such as Tax Law, Labour Law and Commercial Law, reflecting the social, cultural and economic significance of the sporting phenomenon.

Among the many matters our lawyers handle, particular emphasis is placed on sports employment and training contracts; the acquisition and incorporation of sports public limited companies; and forensic representation of the various sports stakeholders in the judicial and arbitral resolution of sports-related disputes before the Sports Arbitration Tribunal, courts of law, arbitration panels and sports jurisdictional bodies, both nationally and internationally. We represent club officials, referees, coaches and athletes in disciplinary and criminal matters.

Our lawyers represent clubs, sports public limited companies, sports agents and athletes in matters relating to the negotiation of sports sponsorship agreements and the exploitation of image rights. We also provide legal and tax advice on the taxation of income derived from sporting activity and contracts associated with sports competition, and provide legal counsel to clubs, sports public limited companies, and sports Federations and Associations across various disciplines.
